we had the kehl boys for a few days while lin and jon celebrated 10 years in mexico! wahoo! the kids played really well together for the most part. cru is like annie's little shadow. annie did pretty well having not only lucy follow her every step, but cru too!
the babies did better than i thought they would. they played with the little kitchen in molly's room quite and bit and we only had one biting incident. yikes.
i didn't comb any hair the days the boys were here. that was rough. for me. to have to look at such ragamuffins (my girls). but i wasn't capable of making that happen. molly's mullet needs a trim.
we bundled up and went to the city park to get some energy out and get out of the house. the kids played on the playground. caden went up the equipment and down the slide so many times. the kids ran around the tennis court and in the leaves. it was just what we needed. i wasn't sure we would ever make it back to the car after that outing...both the babies listen as well as 2 year olds do and they wanted to go opposite ways. it's a good workout-carrying around those two!
the boys slept in the playroom while they were here and they slept like champs. i was impressed. caden went down for his nap no problem. molly has been getting up in the night lately. i think she is scared of the dark and she makes us leave her closet light on...but then i think it keeps her from sleeping well. i can't remember the last time i slept through the night.
it was definitely a bigger job to get so many faces fed and bums wiped and bodies loaded in the car and hands clean and teeth brushed and into bed! phew. but we did it. both nights the kids were in bed by 8. and i was plum tired! i went to bed before 10 pm and that's never happened. like, ever.
they are sweet boys and we took our best care of them.
this conversation went on while sitting on this curb:
mom to lucy: why are you being a sour puss?
lucy: i'm not a sour puss, i'm just sad.
cru: i'm sad too.
lucy to cru: why are you sad?
cru: cause annie just runs away and doesn't want to play with me.
lucy: i'm sad cause my friends moved to texas and we used to get on the monkey bars and say hi.
i miss those times.
it's rough being a kid.
this is what my counter looks like 97% of the time.
