tuesday night ramblings

like usual, i'm hustling and bustling to keep up with life.

lucy starts kindergarten tomorrow. the long awaited day. she is ready and excited. i think it will be really good for her. i will miss her. full day kindergarten! ahhh!

michelle dubois has advanced ovarian cancer. she's been on my mind since she told me the news last week. life can change in a blink of an eye. i fasted on her behalf over the weekend that she will have the strength she needs to carry on and that the doctors will be able to take care of her the best way possible. i wish i was closer. i'm not sure what i would do, but i feel so far away. i'm so glad she started a blog to document her journey. i check for new updates every hour. i posted about her today on insta and it was sweet to read everyone's comments about her. she truly has touched so, so many lives.

besides loving my kids, i feel like i'm on top of NOTHING in life.

i took lucy on a little one on one date monday. we went to in-n-out for lunch and to bath and body works. i let her pick soaps and a little hand sanitizer to go on her backpack for school. we got frozen yogurt and enjoyed being just the two of us. we had a nice day together today too. we painted nails and made chocolate chip cookies. we did a puzzle together and laid on my bed and i scratched her back and ran my fingers through her hair. that's when i asked her about her haircut. she decided after all summer that she does want to do a "bob" cut again. good thing our favorite "saloner" lets us come to her house for a last minute cut. she's all trimmed up and looks darling.

annie seems to be adjusting well to 3rd grade. i love her for being so adaptable. she only knew 2 other kids in her class. her teacher seems very capable and nice. she's young. annie started piano lessons back up today. we took the summer off. i know she's forgotten everything she learned. it would be easier and cheaper to just not start up again, but i'm not ready to throw in the towel. she had a good attitude about going today. i know if i can find the time to sit down with her and help her practice then she will be successful with it. it's hard to think of adding something else to my plate but i'm sure it can be done.

i have a new calling. stake young women's 1st counselor. i work with really great ladies. it's been a lot of meetings so far.... yikes.

matt found out he had shingles right after scout camp. he seems to be doing much better these days. even though he comes home late for dinner most nights, he's a great father and husband and we love him to pieces around here.

that's all for tonight. i'm gonna go crawl in bed next to matt and fall asleep while he watches a bourne movie.
