memorial day - richfield

it's worked out really nice to stop through richfield on our way home from our memorial weekend at the ranch and visit my grandparent's graves.

mom asked if i would pick up some flowers to place on the graves. we picked up flowers and a quick lunch and ate at the cemetery.

i talked to the girls about my grandparents and shared some stories. it made me want to find photos of  them and share more with my girls.

we walked over to grandma and grandpa sandberg's headstone. joann had placed a beautiful potted geranium there.

before long we were back on the road. as i looked back through the photos we had just taken at the cemetery it made me sad. sad that my grandparents are no longer with us and that i can't share my girls with them. i know we will see them again but i sure do miss them.

i cried under my sunglasses on the drive home thinking that someday i will lose my own parents and what a hole that will leave in my heart. i'm glad we live close and can be such a big part of each other's lives.

we hit heavy traffic in lehi and decided to get off and take redwood the rest of the way home. baby had HAD it in bluffdale...like 0 to 120 screaming and we took 15 minutes at a park right off the road until we finally made it home.

it's fun to go. but always nice to be home.

after we had unloaded and vacuumed the car, started laundry and whipped together a spaghetti dinner, lucy and i ran over to the midvale leatherby's to get toasted almond ice cream and caramel for a be-lated birthday treat for mom.

we enjoyed our delectable treat and chatted about our weekends. theirs with family and friends and a bbq and mom's birthday, and ours at the ranch.

we were happy to get the little ones in bed and sleep in our own bed that night.
